after talking to Karen the other day she suggested I look as Spirographs, in relation to the caltch knot i've been playing with. So I did a little Googleing and it came up with some great images. The paterns are created using a plastic machine/toy which produces and iteration of endless differnet paterns.
This also relates a little to the paint mixing experiment as the different coloured pens used overlap each other as the iteration plays out.
