Artbikes - Bike Hubs

Hobart is the home of a talented and diverse group of artists, designers and craftspeople, who live and work in an environment where light and landscape shape and enhance the creative process. Through its Public Art Strategy, Hobart City Council aims to enhance Hobart as a centre of cultural excellence by commissioning works of public art that celebrate, mark and reveal aspects of community life. Hobart has an extensive and varied collection of public art. From the city centre, it's just a short walk between Franklin Square's monumental 19th century bronze statues of British Empire figures and the most cutting-edge contemporary work by students of the Tasmanian School of Art. Throughout the city, public artworks add interest, attraction - and occasionally, even controversy - to people's interaction with the City.
